Our Story
Richmond Floorball Club (RFC) is a nonprofit dedicated to growing floorball in the Greater Richmond Area. Fast, inclusive, and low-cost, floorball is one of the world’s fastest-growing team sports—and we’re proud to be RVA’s hub for all things floorball: games, clinics, leagues, and more.
Backed by USA Floorball and aligned with the International Floorball Federation’s global mission, we share a goal of one day seeing this sport on the Olympic stage. But right now, our focus is local—removing barriers, increasing access, and building a strong, welcoming community around the game.
We hear it all the time: “I wish I knew about this sport sooner.” Whether you're here to compete, get active, or try something new, floorball offers a fresh way to move, connect, and have fun. Richmond already has the highest concentration of players in the country—now it’s time to take things even further.
We’ve got the gear. We’ve got the space. Just show up and play.
This sport has grown here because it reflects what makes Richmond special: openness, movement, and a strong sense of community. Whether you’re competitive, brand new, a former athlete, or just curious—we welcome everyone.
We aim to create a space where elite players and beginners support one another, where coaching and mentorship happen naturally, and where anyone can find their place—whether playing, coaching, or organizing.
Why Floorball?
RFC Founding Circle
Richmond Floorball Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the sport of floorball in Richmond specifically by owning the moment any individual member of our community discovers this sport. We will build an approachable, fun, inclusive, and community-first playing experience for all ages.
This sport is a unique experience for all adults in America-it is one of, if not the only, stick-and-ball sport we're first experiencing as a an adult, not as a child (as we most likely did with many of your popular American sports). That moment of trial was successful, joyful, and rewarding for all of us at RFC. And we know how to foster and grow it.
RFC exists because of several people who kept the sport alive in Richmond over the last 10 years, including those at River City Sports and Social Club. But a core group of early contributors have helped RFC specifically shape its direction, growth, and energy:
Steve Foltz: Procurement Advisor & Head of RFC Player Network
Dom Sadarangani: Strategic Advisor & Head of International Relations
Murtaza Raza: Floorball Strategy & Coaching Advisor
Aylla Desantiago: Public Relations & Social Media Coordinator
Michelle Walton: Strategic Advisor & USA Floorball Regional Director
Matt Dillard: Strategic Advisor & Head of Gamification / Competitive Design
Jacob Doucette: Treasurer & Outreach
Conor Fogarty: Secretary & Operations
