The Players Keep Showing Up — So RFC Is Meeting Them There
Richmond has a habit of turning small ideas into real communities. Floorball is following the same path. What started as a curiosity has become a genuine local movement: people show up once, then they return with friends, coworkers, neighbors, and anyone who’s even mildly floorball-curious.
Three seasons in three different venues.
Crowds that don’t shrink.
Energy that doesn’t taper off.
RFC recognized the pattern.
And this winter, the club is building directly around it.
Free Floorball Wednesdays: Expanding Access on Purpose
Beginning Wednesday, November 19, Richmond Floorball Club will offer free Wednesday night sessions at the RCSSC Annex (7505 Ranco Road) at 6:30 p.m., running through January 7. These open sessions are designed for newcomers, returners, and anyone who wants to pick up a stick for the first time without worrying about cost.
The idea is simple: if floorball spreads through curiosity, then access should never be the barrier.
This approach is directly reflected in RFC’s rotating event structure, which intentionally includes free community opportunities throughout the year.
Partnering With RCSSC to Strengthen the Pipeline
This winter also marks a new partnership between RFC and River City Sports & Social Club (RCSSC) — an alignment built around a shared goal: lowering barriers to entry and creating a clearer path for new players.
RCSSC brings year-round league infrastructure.
RFC brings beginner pathways, learn-to-play development, clinics, and community engagement.
Together, the partnership forms a complete ecosystem for floorball in Central Virginia — from discovery to organized play.
The Momentum Is Real — And the City Has Noticed
Floorball’s presence in Richmond has jumped beyond the rink. This year alone, the sport appeared on NBC12, CBS6, and even on Elliot in the Morning, introducing floorball to people who hadn’t even had their coffee yet.
The interest has been organic.
The excitement has been consistent.
And now, the infrastructure is catching up to the enthusiasm.
Leveraging Global Floorball Networks
As RFC continues to grow, the club is tapping into its expanding network of international floorball suppliers and partners. Through the RCSSC collaboration, RFC is bringing that global knowledge into Richmond — improving access to equipment, supporting clinic development, and strengthening the foundations necessary for long-term community growth.
Floorball may be global, but this chapter is deeply local.
Looking Ahead to the New RFC Season
With new partnerships in place and free Wednesday nights underway, RFC is preparing something special for the season opener of the upcoming RFC season. Details will be announced soon, but the planning is well underway — and the club is excited to reveal what’s next.
Closing Thought
Richmond keeps showing up for floorball — not because anyone told them to, but because the sport is genuinely fun, welcoming, and built for community. RFC’s role is simply to meet that enthusiasm with opportunity: more access, more pathways, more ways to belong.
This winter’s slate of free sessions and new partnerships continues the club’s promise to keep the door open and the floorball sticks ready.
Richmond keeps showing up.
RFC is showing up back.
