USA Women’s National Team Named the Inaugural HerShot Grant Recipient

This weekend — and over the last several months — Suzi Lindquist, a Henrico High School Hall of Famer, forward for the USA Women’s National Floorball Team, and a highly decorated athlete from the top women’s league in France, has shown up for the sport and for Richmond Floorball Club in every way that matters.

Suzi became the first active USA National Team player to ever come to Richmond to teach, coach, and run a floorball clinic. At the HerShot clinic on November 15th at the River City Annex, women and men from across the community came out to learn, play, and support the event. The clinic and scrimmage were free to the public, sponsored jointly by RFC and River City Sports & Social Club.

Earlier this fall, leading up to Barton Women’s Night — time differences aside — Suzi joined live Zoom interviews with NBC12 On Your Side, CBS 6, and even appeared LIVE on Elliot in the Morning, all helping raise visibility for floorball in Richmond and across the country.

Because of these efforts — and the ongoing commitment the entire national team brings to advancing the sport of floorball in the United States — Richmond Floorball Club is awarding the inaugural HerShot Grant to the USA Women’s National Floorball Team via their GoFundMe campaign.

This grant recognizes Suzi’s volunteer efforts, the team’s leadership and commitment, and — hopefully — brings greater attention to the financial burden carried by the athletes who represent our country.

National team players (men and women) routinely self-fund their travel and lodging. Richmond Floorball Club is committed to helping reduce those barriers.

In awarding the inaugural HerShot Grant to the USA Women, we acknowledge:

  • the team’s leadership and example in competing for their country,

  • the realities they navigate just to be able to compete,

  • and the inspiration they provide to the next generation of players — both male and female.

THE FUND

The HerShot Fund is a women’s floorball development program of Richmond Floorball Club. Although the HerShot event welcomes the entire Richmond community — women and men alike — the Fund itself is focused on expanding access, opportunity, and support for women and girls at every stage of the sport.

Richmond Floorball Club is a Virginia nonstock nonprofit corporation; contributions are not tax-deductible.

THE GRANT

The HerShot Grant is awarded to a program or athlete demonstrating leadership, impact, or need in advancing women’s floorball. The USA Women’s National Team is the inaugural recipient, recognized for their commitment, the financial demands placed on national athletes, and the inspiration they provide to future players.

Richmond Floorball Club remains committed to building a floorball community where opportunity grows, barriers fall, and every player — especially the next generation of women — can see themselves in the sport’s future.

Thank you, Richmond, for showing up. The work continues.
